I, Robert Kurtz, CCC-SLP, represent that, as a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist, I am highly trained and knowledgeable in speech and language development. I make every attempt to present information that is research-based and in line with the best practices of my profession and my own best professional judgment. I work hard to avoid typos, misspellings, and other errors that may distort or distract from my message, or lead to a misunderstanding. I am, however, human and capable of making mistakes and getting things wrong. Please read carefully and keep in mind that other professionals may have perfectly legitimate reasons for disagreeing with me.

I cannot diagnose or treat any child I have not met in person. No web site, including this one, can take the place of an in-person consultation with a qualified speech-language pathologist. I offer advice and information on this site solely for the purpose of assisting readers to make informed decisions in choosing what type and level of professional help to seek. Nothing I write on this site or in response to readers via email, should be construed as a diagnosis of a disorder, or as a treatment plan for any person with or without a disorder. Any decision you make, and the consequences of those decisions, are your responsibility. Never take action that could affect the health, education, or development of your children based solely on information or advice encountered on the Internet (this site or any other). Please approach this and all websites with a generous supply of healthy skepticism, and take the time to check the facts presented here with a qualified professional before committing to any course of action.

Please note that questions posted to this web site may be edited for spelling, grammar, and clarity.

Update, fall 2010: For some years now, I have been working on earning a Ph.D. degree. I am now writing my dissertation, and plan to have it finished in time to graduate in December of 2011 [Update, fall 2011: um... make that December of 2012]. I also continue to work full-time, and of course my two children still need their father's time and attention. Because of these demands on my schedule, my response time to messages posted here has become quite slow. You are more than welcome to use this form to contact me, but I am no longer able to guarantee a response to all inquiries. I appreciate your understanding on this. --Robert
